I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Vehicle crime (theft from or theft of), which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Dear resident,
We have become aware of a vehicle crime issue in the area. We are working proactively to tackle this issue. As a resident/vehicle owner there are some things that you can do to prevent this happening to you.
Please ensure you secure your vehicle at all times. Do not leave any valuable items on display in your vehicle. Please keep your vehicle keys/fobs secured in your property and out of sight where possible. If you are Christmas shopping, please try to leave your purchases out of view of potential thieves and consider securing them in the boot of your vehicle.
If you are loading purchases in your vehicle, please ensure you secure it when returning shopping trolleys as their may be an opportunist thief in the area and it can take just seconds to take your property.
If you witness anyone acting suspiciously around any vehicle, please call 999 at the time. Try to pass the best description of the person involved including their clothing, anything distinctive about them and which way they were last seen to go. If you become aware of vehicle crime that has already occurred, the offender has left the area and there is no further immediate risk to life or property, please report this by calling the non-emergency number 101. You can also report anything non-urgent on-line via the Nottinghamshire Police website.
If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.nottinghamshire.police.uk, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101.
